Paris architect Patrick Nadeau is currently building a house disguised as a beautiful green grassy hill in the city of Reims, France. Spotted over at Dezeen, The Wave House or the “Wave House” clearly for the love of plants, such as leaf roof profile is dedicated to our friends.
His unique perspective on green roof design reflects the growing green building all the options available – we love how the roof of the house bearing pervasive landscape architecture with the building design. Mr. Nadeau is now building a house and plans to complete by the end of 2011.
Another unique design feature is how the perimeter of the house raised a few feet (five feet) to act as a bench area.
The facade is made of glass double-skin polycarbonate – the same material used in greenhouses. Vegetation architect describes as “a mixture of grass, fresh leaves, thyme, lavender and other herbs and small perennials distributed in connection with a slope of hull structure.”
If you notice a green building you probably know by now how impressive green roofs can provide insulation – in particular remain cool during the summer months by evapotranspiration. A custom water misting system will be incorporated and used “only if really needed.” Beautiful Green!
